Meeting MEMBER ENGAGEMENT We need to meet and hear from you! One of the initiatives we talked a lot about at the Toronto International Conference was how we can better serve our members. We need to know what we can do better and how to do it. Specifically, what kind of member benefits would be attractive to you and others in IAJE? This will be a major agenda item at the meetings in Grand Rapids. Think about sharing your ideas. If you cannot attend the MMC event, you can always e-mail me at the address below. For those planning to attend MMC, please e-mail me any items that YOU would like to see on the meeting Agenda. Without active feedback from YOU, it is hard to understand what is important to our members at-large. If you are in the Grand Rapids area, or if you are planning to be at the MMC Conference, PLEASE do attend the General Membership Meeting. There are a lot of exciting things going on! 2008 OUTLOOK I think we made tremendous strides at the 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival and with our partnering with Paul Stanifer and MSBOA. But there are many more things to do... If any of you are interested in becoming more active - or even serving on the IAJE Michigan Board, please let me know via e-mail, or even better in person in Grand Rapids! In the mean time, our terrific website -- http://www.iajemichigan.com -- is open 24/7 to help you explore jazz education and many other jazz resources in Michigan. Please check it out. Our web development team is constantly updating and putting new material on the site. Read about how IAJE Michigan educators participated in the grand scale of special events at the Toronto International Conference earlier this month. Remember, you are invited to proactively submit suggestions and educational content for the site. Visit the site, then forward your feedback e-mails to iajemich@iajemichigan.com. Here is an excellent chance to voice your impressions, thoughts, and suggestions! We look forward to seeing many of you in Grand Rapids next week. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and to serving your interests and the interests of Jazz and Jazz Education in Michigan!
