The swinging three-day weekend festival offers four main jam sessions: Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.  Patrons may purchase tickets for a single session, or ante up for a Jazz Pass or Patron ticket, which allows entry to all four sessions.

Seven stages are set up in the downtown area, situated along the banks of the Elkhart River and the ever-popular RiverWalk. Wander in and out freely among seven stages, or anchor your jazz chair amidst the throng of 25,000 attendees, congregrating on city sidewalks and tent areas or going to and from various venue performances.  Downtown concessions, restaurants, and shopping attractions make this truly a can't-miss good time for all!

The 11th annual Edgefest (October 17-20, 2007) will feature ensembles representing the European, Asian, and North American creative music communities. The roster of internationally celebrated artists includes performers from our own Detroit/Ann Arbor area.

This season KCH has been granted two awards from Chamber Music America; one to fund the educational residency activities of the BassDrumBone trio which, in addition to educational workshops, will lead the Edgefest celebration parade through downtown Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown District; and another to fund the performance of a recently completed composition by 2007 Guggenheim award-winner Rudresh K. Mahanthappa.

A new feature this year will be a Symposium co-sponsored by the University of Michigan Institute for the Humanities. The first ever Edgefest symposium, held in collaboration with the UM Institute for the Humanities, will feature the pioneer trombonist and Columbia University Professor George Lewis, who will discuss the social ramifications of improvisation. He will be joined by other musicians and faculty from the UM School of Music and American Studies program.

This spirited vocalist from Nashville is arguably the most promising jazz voice on the horizion, yet not many know her name.  Soon that may change.  The tender 20-year-old swings thoroughly thanks to an innate sense of phrasing and interpretation of a lyric.  At age five it was listens to Ella Fitzgerald renditions of ‘The Lady is a Tramp’ that cemented a horizon filled with music.  Noted actress/singer Kathryn Grayson of MGM fame says of Price: "The best young voice I've heard, period. No one around can even touch her voice and style -- a style all her own."   On the web:  http://www.rachelpricesings.com
